Bolbitis heudelotii
Bolbitis heudelotii is an elegant aquatic fern native to West Africa, admired for its delicate, translucent green leaves. The plant typically reaches 15–40 cm in both height and width, making it a striking midground or background feature in natural aquascapes.
For best results, Bolbitis should be attached to driftwood or stones rather than planted in the substrate. The rhizome must remain uncovered, as burying it can cause rot and damage the plant. Use fishing line or thread to secure the plant until it naturally anchors itself.
Propagation is straightforward by dividing the horizontal rhizome, allowing healthy sections to be replanted. While growth is generally moderate, CO₂ supplementation significantly improves development, especially when kept in soft, slightly acidic water, where the plant performs at its best.
