Microsorum pteropus 'Trident'

Microsorum pteropus ‘Trident’, commonly known as Java Fern ‘Trident’, is a distinctive, narrow-leaved variety of Microsorum pteropus originating from Asia. Supplied in a 5 cm pot, this compact form features elegant, finely divided foliage that gives it a refined appearance compared to standard Java fern.
The name ‘Trident’ refers to the plant’s characteristic tripartite leaf structure, although leaf shape can range from whole to more deeply divided forms. Like other Microsorum varieties, it is an easy, reliable, and hardy aquarium plant.
‘Trident’ is well suited to both beginners and experienced aquascapers and adapts easily to small and large aquariums alike. It grows best when attached to rocks or driftwood, but can also be placed near the substrate. When doing so, ensure the horizontal rhizome remains uncovered, as burying it may cause rot.
New plantlets often form on the tips of mature leaves. These can be gently removed and replanted, making propagation simple and rewarding.
