Anubias barteri var. barteri is an adaptable plant that can thrive without intense lighting, making it a practical option for a variety of freshwater aquarium setups. Its sturdy leaves are also well suited to aquariums containing shrimp, cichlids, or community fish, as they are resistant to most herbivorous fish and plant nibblers.
For aquascaping, attach the plant to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape using thread or glue. Over time, the plant will naturally establish itself onto the surface. Do not bury the rhizome, as doing so can cause it to rot.
The plant prefers temperatures between 20–28°C (68–82°F) and a pH of 6.0–8.0. CO₂ supplementation is not required. Fertilization is optional, although the plant can benefit from liquid nutrients.
