NewCal Mopani Wood
Mopani Wood features a smooth surface, detailed textures, and unique mottled coloring to add visual interest and enrichment to terrariums and aquariums. Perfect for pairing with plants to create a naturalistic look. One of the hardest and densest woods available, it sinks immediately in water and, unlike traditional driftwood, resists rotting.
Pre-soaking the wood in warm, dechlorinated water for 24–48 hours is recommended to remove tannins and ensure it sinks.
If water turns yellow after adding the wood, use filter carbon or repeat pre-soaking to reduce tannins.
Natural driftwood may occasionally develop a harmless milky or fuzzy white bacterial film. Wipe with an aquarium-safe sponge and soak in untreated water 24–48 hours before returning it to your tank to maintain a clean appearance.
