Fluval Plant and Shrimp Stratum

Fluval Stratum is a premium, mineral-rich volcanic soil collected from the foothills of Japan’s renowned Mount Aso Volcano. Specially formulated for freshwater planted aquariums, it provides an ideal foundation for healthy, vigorous aquatic plant growth.
The lightweight, porous structure allows plant roots to easily penetrate and spread, giving them access to essential, readily available nutrients. When paired with Fluval Plant Micro Nutrients, plants receive a complete balance of macro and micro nutrients for optimal growth. The non-compacting substrate also supports beneficial nitrifying bacteria, which quickly colonize the extensive porous surface and help maintain excellent water quality.
Fluval Stratum naturally buffers water to a neutral to slightly acidic pH, making it suitable for most aquatic plant species as well as tropical fish and shrimp commonly kept in planted aquariums. Its structure also provides newborn shrimp with safe refuge, allowing them to hide from predators until they are large enough to venture out.
This visually attractive substrate will not discolor aquarium water and helps control organic staining often caused by natural driftwood.
